So we also follow Your example. Not to be settled with mediocrity but pursue Your excellencies. 			Jesus appears to His disciples and opens their minds to understand the Scriptures. He says, (48) <u>”you are witnesses of these things.”</u> And He promises the Holy Spirit (49). Story continues in the book of Acts where the disciples received the Holy Spirit and, with it’s power, they were proclaiming the Gospel. And the story continues to us today.

			The followers found that Jesus’ tomb was empty and slowly remembered what the Lord said about His death and resurrection.
			I can see how we also are slow to believe, as the Lord says in (25-26). Even so, our Lord patiently and lovingly teaches them as in (27). As a result, (31) <u>”and their eyes were opened and they recognized him.”</u> Look at their confessions, (32) <u>”Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?”</u> Beautiful, just beautiful! “The hearts are burning by the Words and by Christ, our Lord.” And with the joy, they testified Jesus. What a story. Moved by the Word and proclaim it.

			He also warns on the judgement day (28-30). In chapter 19, Jesus wept over Jerusalem and now asks women to weep for her.

			In the midst of this sad time (triumph in terms of God’s plan), Luke also shows, (50-51) <u>”a good and righteous man, who had not consented to their decision and action; and he was looking for the kingdom of God.”</u>

			Father, we worship you this morning for Your mercy, grace, love, and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, Your Son. With which we can catch a glimpse of Your perfect goodness, majestic holiness, and ultimate authority. Hallelujah!

			As through the Chapter 22, Luke describes Jesus’ agony; the disciples couldn’t resist their sorrow and were sleeping, the traitor Judas and religious leaders with the crowd were coming to capture Him. After they would mock, accuse, and harass. All knowing this, in this situation, Jesus comforts His disciples (on Friday’s passage), and in today’s passage I noticed that He prays (39-46). In His prayer I could get some applications: 1. Jesus prays in habit (regularly) as in (39) <u>”as was his custom”</u>, 2. He prays earnestly, as in (42) <u>”remove this cup from me”</u> and (44) <u>”in agony he prayed more earnestly”</u>. 3. He prays for Father’s will, as in (42) <u>”not my will, but yours, be done”.</u> A beautiful example for how to pray, and as always, our Lord shows perfect examples.

			Also noticed that, He told the disciples (40) <u>“Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”</u>. This is also in the Lord’s Prayer (Mat 6:9-13). Which remains me that we, Christians, are in warfare and without His might we can’t fight against the spiritual forces of evil. We must ask and rely on God for help. And Jesus, our Lord, prayed and it’s was triumph, He got tempted but He overcame them - He died on the cross and rose from the dead to paid the penalty of our sins. Crushed Satan’s head. What a victory! Hallelujah!
